If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? If you ask for superstrength, what do you qualify as super? If you ask for flight, do you expect wings? If you ask for invisibility, what if that becomes your permanent state of being?
I heard from someone that they think the objectively correct answer to this question is teleportation. It keeps you safe from people who would want to track you down, it gives you free reign to go wherever and do whatever you would like to, you can quite literally enter the most secretive government facility in north korea and get away with it without any consequences. Imagine doing it with a ski mask. Even lesser consequences. My problem with this arises in logistics. Let’s say you have this superpower. To know exactly where you would like to be teleported, one would assume you have to imagine the location; the exact coordinates and the altitude.
All that effort to then find out you are in a maximum security zone and get shot immediately. Instead, I say, the superior power is to have mastery over chronostasis. To elaborate, a form of chromostasis where you become a singularity beyond time. Your access to space remains consistent, but you stop experiencing time when you freeze it for the universe. In such a scenario, to all the world you would still essentially be teleporting, but the meantime can be used to learn what you would like, find, explore, travel, as you would like while not aging at all.
The universe has come to a standstill, the fusion within supernovas has paused, the blue electricity within quarks has become familiar with its own light, and each and every person has momentarily stopped having any hopes or dreams. Within this, you exist as a god of sorts, willing your way through existence; your reigns are loose as can be, and your noose has practically come undone.
